Bureau undertakes building addition, renovation, expansion
The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau's main office at the corner of Spring and Crockett Streets in downtown Shreveport is being improved and expanded! The project will include more visitor parking, visitor restrooms and an all new state-of-the-art interpretive visitor center that will showcase all of Caddo and Bossier parishes.
"We want the visitor to come in the doors to the new visitor center and instantly get excited about what all the area has to offer," said convention and tourist bureau president Stacy Brown. "Visitors will be able to use our interactive kiosks to experience the area before they even leave our facility." Additionally, the visitor center will have free wireless internet access as well as monitors displaying information on local events. The monitors will be able to be seen from inside or outside the office, for viewing after hours.
The architects have designed the new façade of the building to include a modern twist on what the building looked like originally, when it was built in the late 1800s. The structure will have large curved windows much like the original. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.

Colorado to Play Alabama In 32nd PetroSun Independence Bowl
The SEC and the Big 12 battle it out once again at the 2007 PetroSun Independence Bowl. The Colorado Buffaloes and the Alabama Crimson Tide will face off on Sunday, December 30 at 7 p.m. in Independence Stadium. Buy your tickets today at
www.independencebowl.org/TicketOrderForm.html
Room blocks have been set up and reservations can be made by calling 888.536.0366 or online. If there are no vacancies when you try to book a room, please don't be discouraged. Check back each day because people often book several rooms just in case they can come to the game, then later release the rooms when they see they won't be attending.
This year's game should be a great match-up. We're looking forward to seeing you there.
